Scorching heat and deserted streets… it is summer time. Water becomes doubly precious for almost all species and human beings are no exception. In fact suddenly there is digging of tubewells in the premises of newly constructed houses to surge in supply of water tankers to meet any extra demand in the water consumption.

Cold drinks get flooded in the market…one can see people momentarily quenching the thirst & at the same time temporarily cooling the body. Pepsi to Coca Cola immediately gets into the battleground on the advertisement front. Pulling each other at the advertisement scene to enable and ensure push of sale at the marketing front. It’s once again the stretch when these cola companies review and renew old contracts to entering into new contracts…starts taking shapes with the celebrities.

Summers maybe a grueling time for the unprivileged lot but for the privileged section they have the comfort of air-conditions right from the home through the car to the office. The former lot may be just quenching their thirst with the plain water but the later rejuvenate their body with energy drinks. So summer showers blessing on some to invokes hardship on others.

It’s all about human being but what about the animals…how do they manage to counter the summer. Do they have any specific means to beat the heat? In the wild forest, these wild animals have some forms of lake, pond, and reservoir to streams where they manage to quench their thirst to cool their body.

Nature has ably supported their water requirements in close proximity and they have managed to search the oasis of water in the world of trees. Their biological cycles have been accordingly tuned to intake water on sparingly wide intervals unlike human beings who would need it on closely regular intervals.

All animals don’t have the privilege to enjoy the bounty of the nature by residing in the wild forest. Human beings have captured few and trained them to make it for them a commercial vehicle. Elephants are trained and paraded on the lanes and by-lanes of the cities and towns…a rare sight for the urban people, who merrily part with coins to encourage more such visits. So is the case with monkeys who are also subjected to training by their owners before they display their skills to the common public. These animals with their owners have nothing to worry about…they are fed with food to supplied with water at regular intervals. But those monkeys, who have been forced to enter the cities with depletion of forests, have difficult time to safely quench their thirst.

The city streets have water tapes to bore wells. Passersby to street children take recourse at such destinations to wade away the blistering to sweltering heat. Dampen the entire head to dissipate the accumulated heat to gulping bottles of water to maintain the body’s water level. The physical cycle of quenching to drenching continues unabated to address the need of the biological cycle.

It’s a common sight to see the people quenching their thirst in public places dotted with water tapes or the bore wells. But what is an uncommon sight amongst the common public is to watch a pachyderm choosing a bore well to address its thirst. More so for the kids, they just cannot resist watching such a rare sight…an elephant drinking from the bore well.

Perhaps its master must have guided him and doing the pumping of water or how else can you explain such an incident. Otherwise in the absence of their masters it also quite natural for the animals to locate the sites of water when it becomes the question of life and death. But what would be your reaction seeing the monkey engaged in monkey business…perhaps you would say human being involved in monkey business would make you to react surprisingly but about monkeys… after all its their domain.

Nevertheless, can the cola companies have better ingredients to promote or downgrade their products when monkeys are busy quenching their thirst with colas? Perhaps the Coca Cola company would present saying… look for animals its also a preferred drink. The Pepsi may counter stating that its no more a drink for the human being, the cola company is desperately attempting to atleast grab a niche in the monkey business.

Whatever may be the reaction from the two cola giants, the sight of monkey cherishing a cola drink is definitely a moment of joy for the people around. The moment of joy is spotted and captured by the all-pervasive camera making their rounds in the city circles.
